The UAE’s air defence systems intercepted nine ballistic missiles and 109 drones on Friday, according to the Ministry of Defence, successfully preventing a large-scale aerial attack.
Authorities confirmed that air defence units detected nine ballistic missiles on 6 March 2026 and destroyed all of them before they could reach their targets. A total of 112 drones were also detected, with 109 intercepted while three drones fell within the UAE’s territory.
Since the beginning of the Iranian attacks, the UAE has detected 205 ballistic missiles, of which 190 were destroyed, while 13 fell into the sea and two landed within the country.
The Ministry of Defence also reported that 1,184 Iranian drones have been detected, with 1,110 successfully intercepted, while 74 drones landed within the UAE’s territory. Additionally, eight cruise missiles were detected and destroyed by air defence systems.
The attacks resulted in three deaths, involving individuals of Pakistani, Nepali and Bangladeshi nationalities, while 112 people suffered minor injuries. Those injured included individuals of various nationalities such as Emirati, Egyptian, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, Afghan, Bahraini, Comorian and Turkish.
The Ministry of Defence reaffirmed that the UAE armed forces remain fully prepared to counter any threats, stressing their readiness to safeguard the country’s security, sovereignty and stability.
