KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has suspended all flights to, from, and via Dubai until further notice, citing ongoing geopolitical concerns affecting key air routes in the Gulf region.
The Amsterdam-based airline confirmed that all flights to Dubai International Airport (DXB) scheduled for Tuesday, January 27, and Wednesday, January 28, have been cancelled. This includes KLM’s daily service arriving in Dubai around midnight local time, as well as the corresponding return flights from Dubai to Amsterdam on the same dates.
KLM had earlier announced on Saturday, January 24, that it would temporarily halt services to Dubai, Riyadh, Dammam, and Tel Aviv as a precautionary measure. While flights to the two Saudi cities resumed on Monday, January 26, services to Dubai remain suspended as the airline continues to assess the evolving situation.
The airline said it is closely monitoring developments and evaluating operational options for its Dubai routes. The decision forms part of a broader trend, with several major European carriers adjusting flight schedules in response to regional uncertainties.
Air France had briefly suspended flights to Dubai before resuming operations on January 24. Emirates, meanwhile, recently cancelled multiple services to US destinations due to severe weather caused by Storm Fern.
Passengers affected by KLM’s Dubai suspension can request a full refund or rebook their tickets free of charge. KLM is also rebooking travellers scheduled to fly to Dubai between Friday, January 23, and Wednesday, January 28, and has confirmed that customers may claim reimbursement for unforeseen expenses such as accommodation, meals, or communication costs.
