The Emirate of Sharjah has announced the allocation of land for a permanent venue for the Sharjah International Book Fair, marking a significant milestone in the emirate’s cultural and infrastructure development.
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, made the announcement on Monday during his Direct Line programme broadcast on Sharjah Broadcasting Authority. The planned site will also include a new conferences and exhibitions centre and is located near the Emirates–Al Dhaid–Khorfakkan road network, offering direct connectivity to major routes across the emirate.
Sheikh Dr. Sultan stated that the land was purchased for Dh146 million, and construction work will commence immediately. The project is expected to take two years to complete, with total construction costs estimated at Dh500 million.
The permanent headquarters aims to support the long-term growth of the Sharjah International Book Fair, one of the world’s leading literary events, while further cementing Sharjah’s reputation as a hub for culture, education and intellectual exchange.
