Hyderabad, April 5, 2026: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured a hard-fought five-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a closely contested IPL 2026 encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday.
Batting first, SRH posted a competitive total of 156/9 in 20 overs, thanks largely to a fighting knock from Heinrich Klaasen, who anchored the innings with a well-compiled half-century. However, LSG bowlers kept the scoring in check with disciplined spells, with Mohammed Shami leading the attack and delivering a standout performance to restrict the hosts.
Chasing 157, LSG faced early pressure but found stability through a composed innings from Rishabh Pant, who played a match-winning knock. His controlled aggression and ability to rotate strike ensured that LSG remained on track despite regular wickets falling at the other end.
SRH bowlers attempted to defend the total with tight spells, with Harsh Dubey being the pick of the bowlers. However, the target proved slightly below par as LSG managed to chase it down with just a ball to spare, sealing a crucial win in the tournament.
The victory gives LSG valuable momentum in the early stages of IPL 2026, while SRH will look to regroup and address their batting inconsistencies in upcoming matches.
