In a recent labour dispute ruling, the Abu Dhabi Labour Court has instructed a company to pay Dh252,926 to a former employee in settlement of unpaid salary and other employment-related benefits.
The employee, who had served the company for nearly seven years, filed a case seeking recovery of outstanding dues, including eight months of unpaid salary, annual leave allowance, overtime pay, end-of-service gratuity, and compensation for the notice period.
The claimant informed the court that his monthly salary amounted to Dh17,000, including a basic salary of Dh10,200. His claims included Dh119,000 for unpaid wages, Dh56,435 as end-of-service gratuity, Dh49,300 as leave allowance, and Dh11,757 for overtime compensation.
Upon reviewing the case details and supporting documents, the Labour Court ruled in favor of the employee and ordered the company to pay the total amount covering salary arrears and statutory employment benefits.
The judgment underscores the UAE’s legal framework aimed at safeguarding workers’ rights and ensuring timely settlement of dues upon termination of employment.
