Mamzar Park came alive in a sea of purple as thousands of residents gathered for the LuLu Walkathon 2026, united by the cause of health, fitness and sustainability. Held under the theme “Walk for Green,” the event recorded a remarkable participation of over 36,000 people from 128 nationalities, underscoring Dubai’s vibrant community spirit and shared commitment to a healthier, greener future.
The walkathon marked the 14th consecutive edition of the annual event and was organised in collaboration with various government entities and partners, with Mastercard as the powering partner. The initiative continues to strengthen awareness around active lifestyles and environmental responsibility across the UAE.
The event was officially flagged off at 9 a.m. by Indian former cricketer, film actor and dancer S. Sreesanth, alongside popular social media influencers and sports personalities. Participants completed a three-kilometre walk, pledging their support for fitness, sustainability and collective well-being.
Addressing the gathering, S. Sreesanth applauded the overwhelming participation and highlighted the growing awareness around health and fitness among UAE residents.
Speaking on the occasion, Salim M.A., Global Operations Director of LuLu, said the impressive turnout reflects the UAE’s increasing focus on wellness and community well-being, reaffirming LuLu’s commitment to initiatives that promote healthier and more sustainable lifestyles.
Adding to this, V. Nandakumar, Director of Marketing and Communications, noted that the LuLu Walkathon aligns closely with the UAE’s vision for a healthy, active and sustainable society, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds under a shared purpose.
Beyond the walk, participants enjoyed a variety of activities including Zumba, aerobics, yoga, dance sessions and children’s games, creating a festive and inclusive environment for families. Registered participants received complimentary T-shirts and hampers, while refreshment kiosks and interactive zones enhanced the overall experience.
Several dignitaries were present, including Omoke Adebanjo, Senior Vice President – Retail & Commerce, Mastercard EEMEA; Saifee Rupawala, CEO of LuLu; Salim V.I., Chief Operating and Strategy Officer of LuLu; and Shabu Abdul Majeed, Director of LuLu Global Operations, among others.
