The Consulate General of India in Dubai hosted a grand flag-hoisting ceremony on January 26, 2026, to mark India’s 77th Republic Day, drawing a large gathering from the Indian diaspora across the UAE. The event reflected the deep patriotic spirit of the more than 4.3 million Indians living and working in the country.
Addressing the gathering, Indian Consul General in Dubai Satish Kumar Sivan said that India–UAE bilateral relations have reached new heights, particularly following the recent visit of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to India last week.
On behalf of the people of India, Sivan expressed gratitude to the UAE leadership and its people for their continued friendship and support, describing the partnership as one built on trust, respect, and shared aspirations.
He highlighted several landmark outcomes of the recent high-level visit, including a 10-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement, agreements and letters of intent covering defence cooperation, space technology, and infrastructure investment, as well as discussions on digital infrastructure partnerships, including the concept of digital embassies and secure data cooperation.
Sivan also noted that bilateral trade between India and the UAE has surpassed USD 100 billion in 2025–26, with both nations agreeing to double trade to USD 200 billion by 2032.
Beyond economic ties, the Consul General underscored the vital role of the Indian diaspora in the UAE, describing the community as “vast and vibrant” and acknowledging its contributions across education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and other professional sectors that enrich the UAE’s multicultural society.
