Director H Vinoth’s upcoming film Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay in the lead role, has landed in controversy following the release of its trailer. While much of the online discussion initially revolved around similarities between Jana Nayagan and Anil Ravipudi’s Bhagavanth Kesari, the spotlight has now shifted to the alleged use of artificial intelligence in the trailer.
Sharp-eyed viewers were quick to notice what appears to be a Gemini AI watermark element briefly visible in the trailer. The logo-like visual reportedly appears around the 25-second mark, sparking criticism across social media platforms. Several users have accused the makers of negligence, while some YouTubers have gone a step further, calling it a misuse of AI rather than an oversight.
Despite the backlash, the alleged Gemini AI watermark remains visible in the trailer currently available on YouTube. Neither the film’s production house, KVN Productions, nor the makers have issued an official clarification so far.
The controversy comes at a sensitive time for the Vijay-starrer, as exhibitors are already dealing with uncertainty surrounding censorship-related delays. With the film scheduled for a January 9 theatrical release, concerns remain over show timings and final scheduling.
Jana Nayagan is set to clash with Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara and starring Sivakarthikeyan, which is also releasing ahead of the Pongal festival.
