Dubai : Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully completed Phase II of its Marine Transport Station Waiting Area Upgrade Project, further strengthening the city’s commitment to world-class mobility and passenger experience.
The latest phase covered five prominent stations — Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Fahidi, Bluewaters, Baniyas, and Al Seef — bringing significant improvements to waiting areas and overall commuter convenience. The initiative aligns with Dubai’s broader vision of enhancing transport infrastructure while reinforcing its global reputation as a leading mobility hub.

A key highlight of the project is its design approach, which draws inspiration from Dubai’s rich maritime heritage. By blending traditional elements with modern urban requirements, the upgraded stations not only improve functionality but also reflect the emirate’s cultural identity.
According to Khalaf Belghuzooz Al Zarooni, Director of Marine Transport at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, the selection of stations in Phase II was based on customer satisfaction studies. The upgraded facilities now include air-conditioned waiting areas, increased seating capacity, and expanded spaces designed for better passenger flow.
Special attention has also been given to inclusivity and accessibility. Entrances and exits have been redesigned to accommodate senior citizens and women, while facilities such as free Wi-Fi, public address systems, and real-time passenger information displays have been introduced to enhance the overall user experience.
Safety remains a top priority in the upgraded stations. The waiting areas are equipped with surveillance cameras and fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with international safety standards and providing a secure environment for passengers.

The project also adheres to the Dubai Universal Design Code for People of Determination, ensuring that all passengers, regardless of physical ability, can access and use the facilities comfortably.
Phase II builds on the success of Phase I, completed last year, which covered five stations in the Marina area and recorded high levels of customer satisfaction. With these continued upgrades, RTA aims to further elevate service quality while contributing to Dubai’s Quality of Life Strategy.
