Dubai: The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has reiterated that the complete ban on operating drones, light aircraft, and gliders in the country will continue due to the current security situation.
The authority said the restriction remains in force for all operators, and urged the public and drone enthusiasts to strictly comply with the regulations to avoid legal consequences.
Officials warned that violations of the ban could lead to legal action.
Security precaution
According to the GCAA, the restriction has been extended as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety and protect the country’s airspace.
The ban also applies to flight permit approvals for drone operations.
Ban extended
The Ministry of Aviation had initially imposed the restriction from March 1 for one week, suspending drone and recreational aircraft operations.
Authorities had earlier indicated that the ban could be lifted after a week. However, due to the ongoing regional tensions, the restriction will now remain in place until further notice.
Flight operations
Meanwhile, UAE airspace has not yet fully reopened. Special flight schedules are currently operating to assist passengers stranded at airports and those needing urgent travel.
