Residents across the UAE are feeling the shift in winter weather this weekend as gusty winds, cloudy skies and turbulent seas make their presence known.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology, the unsettled conditions are the result of a low-pressure system moving in from the east, clashing with a high-pressure system advancing from the west. The result? Strong winds, fluctuating temperatures and rough sea conditions across much of the country.
Coastal, northern and eastern areas can expect low cloud cover through the day, while internal regions may experience increased humidity overnight and into early Sunday. Winds will remain moderate to fresh, turning strong at times — especially over open waters.
The seas are expected to be particularly rough, with the Arabian Gulf seeing very rough conditions and the Oman Sea ranging from moderate to rough. Beachgoers and marine operators are urged to remain cautious.
Temperatures will stay comfortable by winter standards. Coastal areas will see highs between 20°C and 24°C, while inland areas could reach up to 26°C. Overnight temperatures will drop sharply in internal regions, dipping to around 6°C, with cooler conditions continuing in the mountains.
The weather outlook suggests more changes ahead. Sunday will remain partly cloudy, with the possibility of fog or mist developing overnight. Winds are expected to ease slightly, although seas may stay rough during the early hours.
By Monday, conditions are set to improve gradually, with warmer temperatures, calmer seas and intermittent cloud cover. However, the calm may be short-lived. By midweek, stronger winds, increased cloud cover and a chance of light rain over coastal areas and islands are forecast to return, along with worsening sea conditions.
