Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, may be launching later than initially expected. After earlier reports suggested a traditional January unveiling, a new leak now points to a February 2026 launch, with devices going on sale in March.
According to well-known tipster Ice Universe, the Samsung Galaxy S26 series will be unveiled at a Galaxy Unpacked event in February, followed by retail availability the following month. Ice Universe, who has a strong track record of accurate Samsung leaks, has previously hinted that the launch was “postponed,” though the revised timeline may simply reflect Samsung’s usual release pattern rather than an actual delay.
Earlier, a report by South Korean outlet ChosunBiz claimed Samsung would stick to a late-January announcement, mirroring the Galaxy S25 launch cycle. However, Samsung has frequently introduced Galaxy S devices in February. Models such as the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S20, and Galaxy S10 were all unveiled in February, with sales beginning either the same month or in March.
Historically, Samsung releases its Galaxy S phones around two weeks after announcement. If the latest leak is accurate, the Galaxy S26 series—including the Galaxy S26 Ultra—could be announced in late February, with availability starting in March 2026.
Speculation around the launch timeline intensified following reports that Samsung may have cancelled the Galaxy S26 Edge, which was expected to replace the Galaxy S26 Plus. However, leaked CAD renders obtained by Android Headlines and tipster OnLeaks suggest that the Galaxy S26 Plus is still in development, featuring a thickness of 7.35mm—similar to its predecessor.
It remains unclear whether Samsung has completely abandoned the Edge branding or plans to reintroduce the Galaxy S26 Edge later in 2026, potentially with upgraded battery technology, as seen with the Galaxy S25 Edge.
