In a rare and deeply personal conversation, Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala, said he holds no hatred toward those who disagree with him and does not believe he has done anything wrong in his life. Speaking candidly, he remarked that the only thing he fears is his own party.
The revelations came during an hour-long interview with Mohanlal, titled Kandu Mundi Iruvar, which consciously avoided political debates and controversies. Instead, the conversation focused on Vijayan’s personal journey, beliefs, memories, and reflections.
Addressing allegations against him, the Chief Minister said they never affected him personally. Recalling his experiences during the Emergency, he spoke about the pressures of imprisonment and the lessons those difficult times taught him. He noted that he never yielded to custodial pressure and carried those experiences forward in life.
Vijayan also shared lighter moments during the interaction, revealing that one of his favourite films is Amruthangamaya, in which Mohanlal acted. He spoke fondly of simple home-cooked food and described Singapore as one of his favourite travel destinations.
The interview began with a song picturised on Mohanlal and concluded with Pinarayi Vijayan reciting a verse from the Upanishads, giving the programme a reflective and philosophical close. While critics termed the interaction a public relations exercise aimed at image building, supporters viewed it as a rare glimpse into the personal side of a leader often seen as stern and reserved.
