Dubai continues to strengthen its government workforce with the launch of a dedicated Innovation Lab by General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA Dubai). The initiative aims to enhance talent management practices while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion across government institutions.
Held at the GDRFA headquarters, the Innovation Lab was organised under the theme “Towards an Inclusive Work Environment… Excellence Through Diversity.” The event brought together GDRFA officials and representatives from various Dubai government departments to explore future-ready workforce strategies and transparent talent systems.
Major General Awad Mohammed Al Humairi, Assistant Director General of the Human Resources and Financial Sector, highlighted that the initiative aligns with Dubai’s leadership vision of building a merit-based, equitable government work environment. He emphasised that modern talent management approaches are essential for attracting, developing, and retaining high-performing employees.
Discussions during the lab focused on institutional awareness, governance frameworks, measuring organisational impact, equal empowerment, and preparing employees for digital transformation. The sessions also addressed future workforce challenges and the importance of adaptability in public sector roles.
Brigadier Samad Hussein Sulaiman Al Baloushi, who reviewed the sessions, directed teams to conduct further studies to ensure the practical implementation of the lab’s recommendations. GDRFA Dubai stated that insights generated during the Innovation Lab will soon be translated into actionable initiatives, contributing significantly to the UAE’s long-term workforce development goals.
