MYSURU, March 23, 2026: In a devastating road accident on the Mysuru-Bengaluru Expressway, four people from Kerala were killed after a private sleeper bus rammed into a road divider. The incident occurred during the early hours of Monday near Channapatna.
The deceased have been identified as natives of Kozhikode and Mahe:
- Mohammed Farhan (22) – Koyilandy, Kozhikode
- Zakir (27) – Mahe
- Rasheed (45) – Kozhikode
- Zulfikar – Kozhikode
(Note: Some reports also mention names such as Rafees or Shabeer; official confirmation of the final list is being processed by the Karnataka Police.)
The bus, operated by P.K. Travels, was traveling from Kozhikode to Bengaluru when the tragedy struck around 3:00 AM. Preliminary investigations by the local police suggest that the driver may have dozed off at the wheel, causing the vehicle to lose control and crash violently into the concrete divider at Puttappana Doddi.
The impact was severe, leaving the front portion of the sleeper bus heavily damaged. Several other passengers sustained injuries and were immediately rushed to hospitals in Mysuru and Channapatna. While most are reported to be stable, a few remain under observation with serious injuries.
Local authorities and emergency services reached the spot shortly after the crash. The bodies of the deceased have been moved to the Mysuru Medical College mortuary for post-mortem procedures. Traffic on the expressway was briefly affected but has since been cleared.
