Tehran: In a major escalation of tensions in the Middle East, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) spokesperson General Ali Mohammad Naini has been killed in an alleged Israeli airstrike in Tehran.
According to reports, the strike also resulted in the death of a senior intelligence official of the Basij paramilitary force, which operates under the IRGC. The attack is seen as one of the most significant blows to Iran’s military leadership in recent weeks.
The airstrike, reportedly carried out by Israel, targeted key locations linked to Iran’s security apparatus. While Iranian authorities have confirmed the deaths, details regarding the exact circumstances of the strike remain limited.
The killing of high-ranking officials, including Naini, marks a sharp escalation in the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel, and their allies. Analysts warn that such targeted strikes could further intensify hostilities and trigger retaliatory actions in the region.
This development comes amid a broader pattern of attacks and counterattacks, raising fears of a prolonged and more dangerous confrontation across the Middle East.
