Thiruvananthapuram, March 19, 2026:
The Congress high command is facing renewed pressure in Kerala as senior leader K. Sudhakaran appears to have softened his stance over seat allocation, while Adoor Prakash has taken a firm position demanding an Assembly election ticket.
Sources indicate that the leadership is concerned about the possibility of more Members of Parliament seeking Assembly seats, which could further complicate candidate selection and trigger internal dissent within the party.
Adoor Prakash has reportedly conveyed his interest in contesting in the upcoming Assembly elections, intensifying pressure on the party leadership already dealing with multiple demands from senior leaders.
The situation comes in the backdrop of recent controversies surrounding the Congress candidate list in Kerala, where several leaders had expressed dissatisfaction over seat allocation. While Sudhakaran’s stance is seen as relatively accommodative now, Adoor Prakash’s firm demand has added to the high command’s challenges.
Party insiders suggest that the leadership is attempting to strike a balance to avoid rebellion and maintain unity ahead of the elections. The fear is that conceding to one demand could encourage similar claims from other MPs, further complicating the process.
Discussions are ongoing, and a final decision from the high command is expected soon.
