Thiruvananthapuram, March 19:
A complaint has been filed with the Election Commission seeking the removal of Arun Kumar, Director of the Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD) and son of former Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, alleging violation of political neutrality.
The complaint, submitted by the Save University Campaign Committee, accuses Arun Kumar of making political remarks while holding a government position. It points to his social media posts and public comments related to political matters, including references to former minister G. Sudhakaran.
The petition states that officials in government service are required to maintain strict political neutrality, particularly during the election period. It has urged the Election Commission to take immediate action and remove him from the post to ensure the fairness of the electoral process.
The issue has triggered fresh debate over political involvement by individuals in government-appointed positions. Critics say that such actions could affect the credibility of public institutions.
There has been no official response from Arun Kumar or the authorities so far. The Election Commission is expected to examine the complaint and take an appropriate decision.
