Tehran/Kuwait City:A drone attack allegedly launched by Iran targeted a fuel storage tank at Kuwait International Airport, triggering a fire and raising fresh concerns over escalating tensions in the Middle East. According to Kuwait’s Civil Aviation Authority, the fire was quickly brought under control, and no casualties were reported.
Emergency response teams, including firefighters, were immediately deployed to the site and successfully contained the blaze. Airport operations were closely monitored following the incident.
The attack comes amid a broader escalation in regional conflict. Saudi Arabia’s Defense Ministry confirmed that ballistic missiles and drones targeting its eastern province were successfully intercepted, while Iran continues its offensive against Israel. Air raid sirens were reported in several parts of Israel as tensions intensify.
Diplomatic developments are also unfolding alongside the military escalation. Reports suggest that efforts are underway to revive US–Iran talks, with Pakistan offering to host discussions in Islamabad. However, Iran has officially denied any direct negotiations with the United States, calling such reports “misleading.”
Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump has reportedly proposed a set of 15 conditions to Iran aimed at ending the ongoing conflict. Global markets have already begun reacting to the uncertainty, with gold prices rising and oil prices witnessing volatility.
In another development, Iran has appointed Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr as the new head of its Supreme National Security Council, replacing a senior official reportedly killed in a recent Israeli strike.
The growing instability in the Gulf region has also brought renewed attention to the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route. World leaders, including India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have discussed the importance of keeping the passage open amid rising tensions.
Security agencies across the region remain on high alert as the situation continues to evolve rapidly.
